MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Investigators say thieves who made off with a collection of valuable coins from a traveller at Toronto's Pearson International Airport targeted their victim.

Peel Regional Police say the theft occurred on the evening of Oct. 30 while the victim was travelling within Canada.

Investigators say the man was distracted and the thieves made off with gold and silver coins worth about $130,000.

Police say they believe those responsible are part of an airport theft ring operating in the Toronto and Montreal areas.

Police have arrested and charged a 42-year-old Ajax, Ont., man with conspiracy to commit theft and possession of stolen property.

A Canada-wide warrant has now been issued for Oscar Medina-Pinilla, 47, and Christian Aponte, 38, who are believed to be in the Montreal area.
