Excellent advice here. Just a small point on this - going from EWR to the Holland Tunnel via the Turnpike Extension the most direct route (and the one you'll be led onto if you follow the signs) is via exit 14, rather than 13A. This reduces the toll to $1.60. The round trip tolls piece is also a bit of a joke to be honest - I know it is posted in the cabs, but you're perfectly within your rights to dictate the route that the driver should take on the return - tell him to take the Skyway for free It's up to him whether to do that or not. I've never paid any "round trip" toll when going from EWR to Jersey City or Manhattan and usually get a bit of grumbling but they don't push it.
