I think BA is full of crap. Your contract of carriage is with BA - and they are responsible from getting you from xxx to yyy. LA, in my experience this year, has been good with re-accommodations because of schedule changes (via my AS miles).

45 minutes @ LIM is doable (if on time). The earlier flight, I believe, is a 319.
