My understanding is that you can always request law enforcement to be present if you feel concerned about anything that happens at a checkpoint. Some screeners may be less willing to get one than others, but if you escalate your request to their supervisor you should be able to get one.
As far as confidential documents go, it's a toss-up. We've all heard horror stories about TSA going through papers in wallets, attempting to confiscate cash, and calling spouses because they suspected that a wife was taking money from a joint account and leaving her husband. But my honest guess is that for every one of these stories there are likely thousands of non-incidents that we'll never hear about (simply because they're non-incidents; after all, who would want to hear reports of "Went through the checkpoint today, had no problems, was wished a safe flight" over and over again).
If I may ask, what is the specific concern over this? Do you think that TSA will want to confiscate your CDs and listen to them? (If so, I don't think I've ever heard of this happening before, and certainly know that's outside the scope of their authority.)
Is there a way you can FedEx overnight your stuff with guaranteed AM delivery? It might be a tad expensive, but would ensure that your stuff makes it to where you're going with your privacy intact. If you're taking a laptop with you, might it be possible to keep your audio and resume on there digitally, printing the resumes and creating the CDs when you arrive at your destination? I don't know if these are viable options for your particular situation - but thought I'd bring them up just in case.
