Agreed. Especially when you consider the extra fuel burned by that 300-pound person vs. the extra 5 pounds of the bag.

The baggage handlers don't have to lift the 150 pound man but they do have to lift his baggage.
But the fee for a second bag (assuming both bags are under 50lbs) is far less than the extra 5lbs overage for one bag.
