Spent 3 nights here in mid Nov on points. Based on comments here had initially made plans to avoid this property and use points for a Hilton stay, but had to change dates late in the game, could not get the Hilton on points, so stayed here.
Arrived at approx. 10 PM - had a reservation for a King NS room. Very poor check in experience, was advised that the hotel was very full and had only a room with 2 single beds - after pointing out that I had a King bed reservation, was then given a King room. Upon arriving in the room, found that it was a smoking room (on the 5th floor, walkout to the pool). Called the front desk immediatley and was connected to a manager who simply said that was all they had to offer at that time, no other choices, but they would try to upgrade me the neext day - very underwhelming approach. Room itself was fairly old and tired. The next day arrived back to the hotel after touring around all day to find a message that a NS room was available - moved to the "Rome" suite. Room appeared to be newly renovated.
Enjhoyed the free breaskfast and evening cocktails in the lounge. Lounge staff were great. Overall hotel lobby and pool we found quite acceptable. Decent location as a basis for sightseeing, close to subway which we used. Would have preferred the Hilton or St. Regis location on Orchard.
In summary, decent location and overall property, some rooms quite tired, poor check in service although decent recovery the next day. All in all, about what I surmised from the feedback posted here.
