The checkin area opens 3 hours before the flight and there is no reason to get there any earlier. There should be one actual AA employee supervising the checkin. If not right there ask for them. I assumen you are an exp so you will not have to wait long as the F and J checkin is quick. The lounge will be of no help at all and i would be afraid that by the time the gate opens it would be too late.
