Thatīs definitely not my experience, but I couldnīt find a clear answer on the AE website either. (Thereīs only a general statement that changes are permitted) I always thought any kind of changes were permitted as long as the award travel zones remain the same, but there may be some other restrictions Iīm not aware of (and agents forgot to enforce in my case)...
