They can either advertise $4.50/gallon and give a $0.25/gallon discount for cash or advertise $4.25/gallon and charge an extra $0.25/gallon for credit card. Exact same thing but one isn't legal.... Presumably because credit card customers would get suckered into thinking they were paying $4.25 only to be surprised by a surcharge.

Funny.. down the I5, I pulled in to get some gasoline at $4.79 per litre.. I go to pay its $4.89 per litre.. I said that's not the posted price.. the attendant tells me its the cash price outside, and if I wanted to pay by cc it actually costs more..
Based on your advice, this gas station was offside?
