London (Victoria) hotels - are they really that small????

Mrs. ITRADE and I are finally giving the kiddies a taste of international travel by taking them to London for a long weekend this coming February. We're prepared for the cold and the rain and the 7 hours of sunshine....

Since we're flying into LGW, we're likely going to want to stay near Victoria station. Many of the "hotels" in the area appear to be average to decent quality and average to decent prices (£100 to £200) a night. One thing that I've noticed on a lot of tripadvisor.com reviews is a complaint about rooms being literal shoe boxes.

I know this is very general, but would one assume that a "family sized" bedroom (e.g., one double and two singles) would be more likely to be adequately sized versus cofin sized???
