I've been trying for a couple of weeks now to get Air Canada to credit the mileage for a trip my wife and I took YYZ-LAS-YYZ in October.
We got almost immediate credits for the outbound trip, but no credit for the return flights. Outbound, our Aeroplan numbers were printed on our BP's. On the return check-in at Las Vegas, the agent told us that they were unable to print our FF numbers on the BP's, but she showed us a list of about 30 other Aeroplan members on that flight, and our names were on the list, which, she assured us, would go to the Aeroplan center, for crediting of points. As of three weeks ago, the points hadn't credited, so I first sent Air Canada an e-mail to have them check their records, and credit us with the mileage for the return flight. All that resulted in, was a phone call to us, saying that we had to send in the tickets and BP's for credit, which I have done. But since then, I called the Aeroplan service center last week, and was told that the computers were down, and they couldn't check for the flight records.
Called again today, and guess what!! A very helpful young lady took the time to search the records on their computer (now two months later), even without the ticket numbers--remember, I mailed the tickets and BP's over a week ago--and, after several minutes came back on the line, and told me that the 1939 miles will be in my and my wife's account within 48 hours.
She did say that there had been many complaints about mileage not posting on flights from LV, and didn't know why the FF numbers won't post on our BP's from there.
Can't figure out why, if our FF numbers are in the airline's system, and if you take the outbound flight and the numbers print on your BP, why won't they print on the return flight's BP. The check-in at LAS was handled by regular AC staff, using AC's computer system, not by another airline or ground ops crew, so there should be no reason they can't print the FF numbers on the BP's. This is not the first time this has happened on a flight from LV on AC, you would've thought that they would have had this annoying problem corrected by now. Next time, I'll try to get round trip boarding passes at the originating check-in.
Moral of this slightly long winded story--don't stop trying. It sometimes pays to go the same "route" more than once.
Noticed that this may be my 250th posting.
I think I may be a FT Evangelist. Nice Christmas present.
Happy Holidays to All.
