Not sure if you are stating that you already have reservations for Disney area (or only for San Diego?) but if you need a hotel close to Disneyland be sure to check out the Orange County Hyatt as they are fabulous in their Diamond recognition and you will most likely get a suite with separate kids' room(s). They aren't close to any beaches but I would even consider them for an OC area beach visit as their rooms are so practical, the breakfast buffet is nice, and their prices are almost always very reasonable. Even in summer. It's usually so inexpensive that it doesn't make any sense to use points for a stay, at least for me.
