I was planning on doing a SPG platinum status challenge by staying at the Aloft Bankgok for 2 weeks (basically the same price), but I think I'll probably just remain hotel-status-free. The Marriott site says that all Rewards members get free internet at this hotel regardless of status.
I am SPG Plat so it is not an issue for me, but IIRC aloft gives everyone free internet throughout the hotel as an attempt to appeal to the clientele that aloft wants as a brand.
