Considering that Hilton has just invested a lot of time in money rebranding, and starting to refurbish, all Doubletrees - I doubt it.

I think your troubles may be specific to this hotel. The Doubletrees that I have stayed in recently - most notably the Doubletree at IAH - have had outstanding service.
