My wife and I have flown Flt. 31 (LAX-HNL, Departs 8:30 am) twice with a third time in February. The first time we flew Flt. 31 was on a 767 but AA has since changed to a 757-200. We like getting into Hawaii by 12:00 pm. We are from the east coast and have flown to Hawaii several times via ORD and DFW. Even though you get the most "bang for your buck" if flying first class on the 767 thru ORD or DFW, it makes for a very long day with the time changes.
From what I can recall, it was a good flight expect for some clear air turbulance. We were the first flight out to HNL so the AA pilots had no reports from other aircraft. Maybe you will get lucky and they will sub out to a 767, which does happen on occasion. Like others have said, don't expect too much other than domestic F service. Also, overhead entertainment is provided. One movie I recall was played and you received earbuds. Cheap ones so bring your own if you have them.
