Appreciate the Bose Radio/CD
Have been quite consistently satisfied with plat-upgrades here, including duplex suites on some (albeit rare) occations. I got the impression they really upgrade you to the best available room/suite without you having to ask about it (something I always find annoying: Asking about some suite availability and only then they start the action).
What I like is that even the Alster view rooms (quite large, but no suites and 'only' one tv screen) feature Bose Radio/CD (plus a Sony docking station). I'd caution however, that when staying on lower floor Alster view rooms (recent stay at 4th floor) one does hear some (moderate) street noise. In this regard the suites facing the backyard are better.
Once stayed in a smaller room where they only had some type of weird small sofa in front of the working desk (comfy, but not if you have to sit in front of your laptop for hours). Had to ask for a chair and after some back and forth got one.
I agree that breakfast (not to mention internet) is pricy. But I definitely find it superior to e.g. the Le Meridien Vienna re both quality (remember some excellent bread specially baked from the chef) and setting (Alster view from the highest floor; love to go to breakfast early and enjoy a quiet window seat).
