Yes I speak Chinese - Mandarin and Cantonese.

My DCC incidents in the past three months:

Dongguan golf club, 11 Sep 2011, BoC terminal, carbon slip: I didn't bring your instructions with me, but I remember the "汇率查询" bit, but it wasn't shown http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china...on-33.html#488 . I was allowed to watch the processing (a repeat which we were able to abort) but can't figure out a way to bypass DCC.

Chinatrust hotel (Taiwan), 19 Sep 2011, Global Payments terminal, thermal slip: We don't have instructions for that, but the terminal were compliant as of Dec 2010 (Dec 2010: was given a choice). Was allowed to watch and even handle the processing but couldn't bypass DCC resulting in re-charges and reversals http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china...on-35.html#518 .

Living Room, Park Hyatt at the Shanghai World Financial Centre, 15 Oct 2011, BoC terminal, carbon slip: requested access to the terminal but was refused (back-stage work area). I did request the staff to select RMB if she can but she said no choice can be made http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china...on-36.html#536

Vue Bar, Hyatt at the Bund, 15 Oct 2011, CCB terminal, thermal slip: Sorry was a bit too drunk to remember to try the 转换 function http://www.etveg.com/misc/DCC_China.pdf http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china...on-36.html#536 . The waitress had instructions to bill me in RMB, but I don't know whether she saw a 转换 button and whether she knows what to do with it.

(Just for next time) When am I/the waitress meant to press 转换? When keying in the RMB amount?

I think an opt-out happened here:

Am chilling at Long Bar - my Girlfriend is contended with my Bloody Mary which she took over and more importantly the free Wifi. Hyatt Vue's last - let's see if they live up to their reputation of caring for their customers.

Edit 1am. - not moving, leave Vue for tomorrow. Another round of drinks, another ICBC slip sans apparent DCC.
When I received the statement for the ICBC Long Bar bills, I confirmed I was duly charged in RMB not HKD (and 5X overseas spending miles being awarded).
