just a quick request if anyone can verify my knowledge before I advise a family member to buy a slightly higher fare what they would (so I can upgrade them)? Thanks!

I have UA SWUs earned in 2011, and family member is about to buy intl tickets for travel in Jan 2012 -- a combination of CO metal and UA metal flights, bought through CO website.

I'd like to use my UA SWUs to upgrade them, but understand that UA SWUs are still only valid on V, W, Q, H, etc and higher, on both the UA and CO legs. And my assumption is that this will not change (for benefit or detriment) in terms of using these in Jan 2012. I.e. my UA SWUs will not become valid on just any fare, is that right?
