The reason that we are going to have two winners is that there is a little trick to this question. At what point does east become west?

Obviously Alaska is the northern most state with Hawaii being most southern, but some people believe that since NA and SA are the west and Asia is the East, that east and west are divided at 180 degrees longitude. If that were true, along with being the western most state, Alaska would also be the eastern most state because it extends past 180 degrees longitude into the east. Opus17 would subscribe to this practice.

On the other hand, some people believe east is to the right and west is to the left. MrLimo would subscribe to this theory.
