Hi,

Naturally your moderator status confers extra attention and significance on any opinion you express on this specific and emotive topic. So for clarity are you happy to say at least that this opinion is an "informed" opinion ie it is based on informed exchanges? If it is ... it's welcome. If it isn't then naturally your status confers a degree of alarm on your opinion simply because of your mod status

I also ask because BMI are being taken over by an astute business who presumably are sensible about this topic and will know how whatever decision they make will effect these customers. BMI's best customers have acquired more miles than their less best customers and who under the scenario you suggest will not be able to redeem their miles in a limited period made because they will be competing with an extraordinary number of people who will suddenly be trying to burn miles and even now BMI are still actively selling miles/points.

The net effect of the approach you suggest will unavoidably be the loss of a high number of miles by BMI's most loyal and best customers - and some of those miles would have been purchased during the period when the transfer to BA was being pursued. I don't think the loss of those miles will be tolerated without a large amount of noise and possible legal nastiness if whoever buys BMI is solvent and has the option to absorb the miles liabilities but simply chooses not to. Selling customers miles and then telling them that they must spend those miles in an "empty shop" I'm not convinced constitutes "fairness".

So please expand on your comment!
