I quite like the smaller WT cabin you mention, it feels a bit less packed than the rearmost cabin, so I usually go for an aisle seat there.

One issue I have with the 744 seats though, is that the tray in the bulkhead armrests isn't adjustable (ie can't be slid further away from you). Being somewhat larger than most in the belly department, this makes it a bit cramped for me

As a result I usually plump for an aisle seat in row 34. This has the advantage that the middle seat is less attractive to others than a bulkhead middle seat, and so if loads are light I can often have an empty seat next to me - has probably happened on about one third of my TATL flights this year.
