I'm currently a UA 1K that's decided to shift his primary allegiance to ANA. With the completion of a PVG> SIN next week (on CA, to avoid confusion) I should be at >100K Premium Points on ANA, qualifying me for ANA Diamond next year. I currently have just a little over 38K EQM on UA this year.

The tricky part is that I'm flying back home to the US for the holidays, arriving back at PVG Dec. 31st. I'm flying C on UA. If I designate these miles to ANA for premium points I'll get two more ANA upgrade points for the following year. Without going into details , adding these two points will make it possible for me to upgrade one more ORD>NRT flight leg to business class. That's all these additional two points would do but that's worth something.

Here's the reason I'm posting this question on a UA forum. Obviously if I designate these EQM to UA then I'll go from 2P to 1P, if I've got my P's right; if not then to be clear from Premier to Premier Executive. Is it worth it? And in particular is it worth it relative to getting those additional ANA upgrade points?

Additional factors I take into account are I'll already be S* Gold via ANA, and I do very little US domestic travel. On the other hand ORD is my home airport and given the way things seem to work I'll probably end up flying domestically more than I think, especially if I choose to stay at 2P.
