There is a big difference spending a large annual fee and getting 42000 miles vs spending money on things you would have purchased anyhow. I hate to say it but $2500 USD ($75 USD annual fee) is not a lot of spending even in these austere times - especially for 100K miles. Your stated offer is really not in the same league. Also with Chase being nice on exchange rates compared to Amex here, we really are not talking about the same thing.

Perspective please.
