January of of 2010 I began planning to use my US Airways CC for a cruise in December. I religiously paid it off each month and didn't carry a balance for several months too. Then in early November Barclays close my account! I got the run-around as to why it was close, nonetheless, I finally got one of the agents to tell me that they considered I had abandoned the account since there was no balance on it for a certain period of time.

I considered it a sign and let by-gone be done until I discovered that that my Virgin America card I applied for in August of this year was also being issued by them AFTERWARDS... Drats!! Now I'm back with these creeps.

Good Luck to you with holding on to the miles and getting your trip in J. I immediated purchased my tickets I intended to use the VA card for, got my bonus miles and credit with VA. Now, if they close the account I'm good. Doubt they will do it just yet as I've "not givien them a reason to do so just yet perhaps..."

Do a search for "Barclays Bank Complaints/credit cards" and you will be thankful not to be dealing with these people anymore...
