I'm a Communications Supervisor for Vallejo Police, in the SF Bay area. We work a 4 day week, allowing me plenty of 3 day weekends to fly off somewhere.

Shift work actually has some benefits (I work nights), in that I get 7 weeks a year vacation (some of that to compensate for holidays), and can take my overtime hours as "time" to travel even more.
