wCities.com on Marriott-branded sites

This is the dumbest thing ever, so I'll refrain from further comment. I've mentioned this before here and here.

Marriott or its Web developers licensed “city guide” data from wCities.com, Inc. for their main Web site (it has now been removed) and now for a Marriott-branded mobile site called mobilecityguides.com which is linked to from their mobile (iPhone) app.

Marriott headquarters are near Washington, D.C., so you'd expect Marriott to verify their own recommendations for their home city.

These are the hotels that the Marriott-branded mobilecityguides.com recommends you stay at in the Washington area:

  • Capitol Skyline
  • Best Western Georgetown Hotel & Suites
  • Topaz Hotel
  • Capitol Hill Suites
  • St. Regis Washington D.C, (The)
  • Channel Inn Hotel
  • Crowne Plaza Hotel
  • Doubletree Guest Suites
  • Doyle Normandy Inn (The)
  • Embassy Suites Washington D.C.
  • Four Seasons Hotel Washington DC
  • Georgetown Inn
  • Georgetown Suites - Harbour Building
  • Beacon Hotel & Corporate Quarters (The)
  • Henley Park Hotel
  • Hay-Adams Hotel
  • Jefferson (The)
  • Madison Hotel (The)
  • Tabard Inn
  • Watergate Hotel
EDIT: Deleted! I guess they read FlyerTalk. Screenshot: http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/4357/wcities.png
