A final suggestion for you: check out A3. It is easier to maintain (only 20k miles per year), will get you free lounge access (you won't get this with AA), free bags, etc. Flying usually gets best CPMs on US transcons (I believe they've got a sale out of DCA running).
Not trying to hijack the thread here, and will respond to OP Next... But...
I just checked out the A3 website. After getting sidetracked with thoughts of lovely places to travel, found that for 16k a year you get *G status? Plus *a lounge access? So why aren't people using their A3# on UA,CO,US,Etc flights to get the status and lounge access? Am I wrong?
Now back to dreams of Flying to Athens.....
