My BA miles posted on my AADV account from LHR to CDG, but not Bangalore to LHR. Did I actually forfeit 7800 miles plus bonus miles because I upgraded? That doesn't seem fair. I can understand not getting miles on an award ticket, but I paid alot of money for this ticket (well, my company did).
The problem is that, when upgrading on BA via certain methods, BA use a fare code that is also used for award tickets! I had the same problem when upgrading from WT to WT+ which put the ticket into "P" class. AA sees this and thinks it's an award ticket so credits zero miles. It's a real PITA to sort out - I filled out the missing mileage form on aa.com but nothing happened after a month and I had to make no less than 3 calls to AAdvantage customer service to get the miles, PLT bonus miles and EQS posted correctly to my AAdvantage account. The experience has left me reluctant to upgrade a BA flight again
