Hyatt house (Sierra) Santa Clara/Rivermark REVIEW - MASTER THREAD

I guess I should stick with the naming convention of the Master Thread.

I used to stay at this Hotel Sierra quite often (a week or more a month) until switching to Hyatt properties a year or two back; a couple of weeks ago I decided to try another stay since they've luckily been purchased by Hyatt.

Overall, the fit and finish of the place is like most of the hyatt summerfield "suites." Perhaps a little older than some of the newer ones (like Fremont) so it did start to feel dated.

For diamonds they offered the typical 500 points or a 5 buck voucher.

Pseudo-dinner is served nightly. Most of the hot meals are just dumped out of a can, which is disappointing. The ravioli that was served when I was there one night tasted like a chef boyardee can, which reminded me of childhood - but not in a good way. They always have chips and fresh cut veggies, which is what I usually go for along with the soup and salsa. They have a self serve beer station which is nearly impossible to pour a beer without 3/4 of the glass being "head." Free wine.

I think the place is ok - its probably my 2nd destination if I cant get a room at the Hyatt Regency on Great America parkway.

My largest complaint about the hotel sierra chain: whats up with the watered down shampoo, hand soap, and whatnot in pump bottles? It comes across exceedingly cheap and not something they used to do a couple years ago. Sometimes saving a dollar here and there really shows. This particular "feature" caused me to cut my last stay short by a day to go to another hyatt.

If you are looking to dine - the Rivermark shopping center where this hotel is has a number of good eating choices. Yoyo sushi is decent. Mezzbaan (indian) is really good. Piatti (italian) right next door is upscale and good, bit over prices.
