Come again? US has a hub in LGA, not JFK. But even then, US has basically no service to the Midwest. The OP would have to take a UA codeshare to use US to get anywhere besides OMA and MCI.
I am sure I have flown a few times from DAY from to JFK. Am I mistaken and it was actually LGA? I don't think so. For sure it was US Air.
