The TV is frequently used as an advertising medium, so they like to leave it on. It usually includes idyllic pictures of their restaurants and other attractions. I stayed at a Disney World property once where the TV turned on at the same time I'd set for my alarm and I was jolted out of bed by a video of someone named Stacy squealing about "must-sees" at WDW.
Then there are the screens that read, "Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. MyLastName". Fortunately, my husband, who does NOT share my last name, thinks it's funny.
