Those are my personal favourites too. Including the acquired taste of herring in the morning.
Herring isn't really a German breakfast staple in most parts, but since North Germany gets lots of Scandinavian tourists, it can be found on most breakfast buffets. I much prefer it to the rather boring farmed salmon.
