I have 1.71 million miles in my account!
So, I called US customer service. The agent said this is a glitch in the new merged computer system .... supposedly, many members are being denied the opportunity to renew on-line using miles.
OK. When were these computer systems merged? Because when I tried to renew my membership online last December, I got the same message. I wasn't going to pay the new $400 fee, so I was going to use the 50K miles instead. I tried renewing several times over the course of a week. Same thing. I sent an e-mail to RCC. About a week later they renewed my membership for me. The good news was that my membership "life" got extended about 6 weeks later from when it expired (I was trying to renew about 5 days before the 30-day grace period ended).
