If you are living in US, you might want to put those AF miles in a Delta Sky Miles account. Now AF and DL are members of Skyteam, maybe there will be more interchangeable benefits.
I presume with Delta, you could get points on some kind of mileage earning credit card which might be more difficult on AF Frequence Plus as a US based resident. Check out the Delta forum to see what sort of opportunities there are.
I have been flying AF from Paris to Douala several times a year but the miles take a long time to add up. Their double promotion with AF Frequence Plus recently was a welcome addition but such promotions have been few and far between.
If you use Delta at all in the US, you might appreciate that.
I still put all my North America to Europe miles towards my Star Alliance carrier and hope that I might be able to do something someday with my AF Frequence Plus account. I get free upgrades on my Star Alliance carrier (Air Canada) for the transcontinental and trans-Atlantic flights so I don't fly AF over the ocean.
