In theory, yes and no. Meals are supposed to be prioritised by status, so if you are a top tier member, Gold say, you should have a greater chance of getting your first choice regardless of where you are sitting. Some crews have been known not to do this though.

For non-status passengers, being seated somewhere that places you at the 'end' of the service line means that you are less likely to get your first choice.

Most services are started from the front and work backwards. Some of the seating plan websites indicate this.

I always try to be as furthest forward as possible.
