Checked out of Brisbane 2 days ago, all 4 of my Sydney stays, and my current Melbourne Marriott stay all incur 1.5% CC fee. As mentioned previously it's an OZ thing.

What you may want to check is the exchange rate of your stay. Sydney has charged me in USD a couple times, the latest 2 weeks ago yielding an exchange rate of 1.0759% when a local currency charge would have been 1.042%. I am working it out now, with the hotel manager, a refund of the difference of $48+ USD.
