Saw something similar to this while flying through NRT last week... club was pretty busy but I found a seat at the high table area near the food and bev. Seat next ot me was empty except for a jacket on the back of the chair, with a guy sitting one seat over at the end of the table. After 20 min, he gets up, collects his things, puts on the jacket and leaves. Apparently he didn't want anyone sitting near him at the table... very rude.
