On long haul flights, I had a few times the stewardess asking elite/elit+ passengers what their preferred meal was before starting serving, so as to be sure those passengers got their choice.
^^^ That is actually a very nice gesture...
I once flew with the no-longer existing and short lived
Oasis HK and sat at the very last row on one of their 747-400's. When meals were handed out there was only fish left, and as I don't eat fish I was a bit disappointed (but what the heck, I had paid
GBP 75 LGW -> HKG). Anyhow, the steward came back after 5 min or so with his crew meal and offered this instead...
Now THAT was service, and as Oasis HK was a LCC no Elite status or anything made a difference.
Someone could learn something from this...
