The area around the Maglev station is most uninspiring, there is really no point walking around at the surrounding intersection. It's dusty, noisy and you'll get approached by taxi touts.
Switch to line 2 and head to Dongchang Rd or Lujiazui for a feeling of the financial centre area. I personally have zero interest in the Oriental Pearl Tower but the SWFC, Jin Mao Tower and a few other of the highrises are notable for their architecture.
Normally go into this area only for meeting either business partners or friends and there are quite nice restaurants spread around also if time permits.
