We did change the program this year, in response to many requests we received, to award systemwide upgrades at the time they are earned. After then receiving negative comments from other 1K members that they had more than they could use credited to their account, we have made an allowance that if a member requests next year, an extension of the expiration date of any unused upgrades, we will give them until December 31, 2012 to use them.

All you have to do is contact Mileage Plus next year, prior to the original date of expiration, and request this extension.
