2011 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited Ride Report/Review

Picked up a 2011 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited in Honolulu for a quick, 1-day rental. Classification is Luxury (LCAR), but this one was parked on the standard Aisle.

I was surprised that the MSRP of this model was a whopping $47,225, which made it the second most expensive vehicle (without options) in Lincoln's line-up (past tense since 2011 was the final model year for the Town Car).

For that much dough, you're getting the last of the traditional American V8-RWD-bench seat cruisers -- and not much else. If you're looking for high-tech features, you won't find that here. Bluetooth? Nope. USB (or even aux-in)? No. Smart key? Sorry, that's a 90s-style Ford keyless entry fob on that Lincoln key.

What you're getting is a very smooth, comfortable highway cruiser that can seat five people comfortably (legally six using the front bench, but only as a last resort) and haul 4 mid-size suitcases. Bumps in the road that I've noticed with other cars I've driven were well muted without rattles that have plagued other rentals I've driven (such as my last 2011 300).

Likes
  • Smooth V8 engine
  • Comfortable (soft) ride with a very solid feel
  • Large trunk
  • Last of the cars with a bench seat and six seat belts
  • If you're driving, feels like you're a mob driver or limo driver; if you're a passenger, feels like you're being driven around by your hired driver

Dislikes
  • It's a boat with no parking sensors or camera for support (appears to have been deleted from the 2011; my last 2010 rental had them) -- navigating a cramped parking garage is not something you want to do with this vehicle
  • If you take this, no complaining about the gas mileage -- you'll get exactly what you'd expect with a vehicle this size with a V8
  • 90s-style infotainment with a CD-changer, no aux-in, no USB, no Bluetooth
  • Disappointing sound quality from the standard audio system
