I usually just click on {insert} {symbol} in Word and then pick and choose characters such as "èéêë" from the currently displayed character set. Other character sets can be pulled down if the default set is insufficient. This may not be the most "Élêgãnt" approach but it works.

I suppose it can be considered rather frilly but these days my clients often seem more interested in frills than content anyway. I remember implementing a large and complex database many years ago and when prompted for comments after it had been in production for a while, the main user eagerly mentioned that he just loved to watch the blinking lights
