Go-Go Internet so overloaded Delta Corporate employee can't even connect to Delta VPN
I am currently in-flight on a 767 ATL – LAX. Was on a P-fare so had first class. The upgrade list had 89 on it even after the 30 F seats were filled. My guess is there are many business travelers on this flight.
Maybe because of so many folks on a 767 (~240 seats) the go-go in-flight is painfully slow. I can barely connect to my corporate VPN, and pages like flyertalk threads take 3-4 minutes to load. What is ironic is that I am sitting next to some sort of employee of Delta corporate, who cannot get his Delta computer connected to the Delta VPN because of how slow the GoGo internet is transmitting data. I just wanted to share the irony. I have no ill will for Delta so I am sharing this not to flame Delta but just as a data point that sometimes the Delta GoGo internet can’t handle the capacity.
I don’t have a solution other than increase the bandwidth the entire airplane gets to the satellite or raise the price of the service. And I am not familiar with the technologies out there. Needless to say, not a lot of work is getting done on-line for a lot of folks on this flight.
