Many things are possible with Delta...In one weekend!

Let's talk about the possibilities...!

My weekend with Delta:

1. Apparently I'm still stunned to learn that Delta likes to take non-status passengers over loyalty passengers in this particular case. Overall I understand taking any passenger when they need seats in an overbooked situation and don't care about status/no status.

BOS-DCA, flight was overbooked by 2, I volunteered but was then told by the GA that she didn't need me because she had a couple that volunteered as well. It took us 15 minutes to figure out the situation. FA tells me they didn't take you because its easier to take a couple together instead of trying to find you + 1 other person...

What really ticked me off was this was a rather young couple and 'looked' like that type that always books the cheapest ticket on whatever airline. Great. They'll use the vouchers up and not fly Delta again until it is the cheapest option for their next flights.

Overall there wasn't any tension or frustration going back n forth. I was in a mellow mood so I didn't have it in me to press the situation further after being told I'm going to take a couple over you. Obviously disappointment ensues and I decide that I'll clean the liquor cart dry for redemption, in which I did. Read below.

2. BOS-DCA, same flight. FA's were phenomenal despite my volunteering process being a cluster fluck. 2 PBD drinks to start, okay I'm in a better mood . To start, this flight was 'light'...elite light that is but overbooked.

Two women come on board and sit in 3C and D.
Woman #1: Hey blah blah blah, you know, the typical talk non sense of course. Then she asked Woman #2 do you fly often that you are in first class.
Woman #2: No.
Woman #1: Oh so do you have some sort of special status that they just put you up here or what is it.
Woman #2: No, I just signed up for Delta recently, I've only taken like 3 flights, so its awesome that I'm up here.
Both women continue to go blah blah blah and I tuned them out thereafter.

Attention FO's, I just learned that it is possible for you guys to ride up front with us, just let me put my bag in the overhead bin first. There is hope, so don't live life in despair too much because you'll soon get your chances of shining!

A bit away from my story time, but:
I have a question to my DL elites out there. Are you able to detect people who are new to First class like me? I love the look of peoples face when they are asked what they'd like to drink and hesitate to take one. Not hating on people who don't fly often. I actually think its funny because the deer in the headlights stare is priceless!

3. Had an award flight booked for a friend. His return flight was today @ 8am today. He didn't want to go home that early. I called the Diamond Desk at 4am and asked if we can change to the afternoon flight. Click Click Click, no problem sir, click click click ok, Mr. krpjr I have your friends new itinerary ready and I'll email it to your email on file. Thank you for choosing Delta and being a loyal Diamond Medallion. Priceless. Simple. No confusion. Took 5 minutes. WOW!

So...let's backtrack. I booked the ticket with my miles as a DM, my friend a non status passenger and I'm not even on the itinerary accompanying him yet this was possible? I think I just gamed the system because I SDC'd my friend, HAHA ! Eff that T-72hour rule, it MAKES ZERO GODDAMN sense and pisses customers off knowing that it exists in writing.

Anyways, I'm not mad at Delta at all this weekend, no reason to be, overall they were superb. Things like changing my friends award flight is why I continue to remain loyal to Delta and buy ticket after ticket with them.

Oh and in case you guys were wondering, I did clean the liquor cart. I believe you were looking for that part of the story but I decided to leave it out. Let's just say the FA told me I set a new number of Vodka and Bailey's in her flight history and called me a champ. Not bad for a 1hour flight.

Thanks for reading if you were able to get through it!

Cheers,
