In reality, Kingfisher is too big to be allowed to succeed (in its present avatar at least). It operates to a fundamentally flawed "business model" (it is generous to even give that moniker to the seemingly random modus operandi) and the more money you throw at it, the more money you will waste.
Air India's business model on the other hand is relatively more sound. The execution of the business model (via bureaucratic delays, political meddling, bloated staffing and incompetence) has been woeful.
The great irony though is that given a choice of which one to save, the babus will debate endlessly as both drown.
