Where do you plan on going? With a few more miles, if you have the US Airways World Mastercard, you can get both you and the wife a roundtrip domestic first class ticket. Heck, even without the card you'd only need 20k more.

Just look around and you should easily find 25k one way awards. The upgrade rate from coach is a bit of a ripoff in my opinion. Most would argue getting domestic awards are too, but that's up to you.

The only good thing about what you're planning to do is you'll earn miles for your ticket as well. Just base miles and not the COS bonus since an O award ticket doesn't earn that.
