We're taking our (will be then) 18 month old twins to Europe on AA in the spring. We actually just bought a new double stroller for traveling, and it's the Maclaren Twin Triumph (we bought a second, lighter stroller not b/c of the policy, but b/c we needed one that is side-by-side so they could both see when we're traveling).
I'm frustrated, too, b/c 20 lbs doesn't make any sense for a double stroller, since there are almost none on the market that even fall under that weight. And it just seems like such an arbitrary number. I'm imagining a bunch of suits in a room shrugging and saying, "yeah, 20 pounds, let's go with that" rather than thoughtfully considering what it means to passengers.
Not to mention, do any of these people have kids? Have they never had a long layover with toddlers?
At this point, we're just going to have to keep our fingers crossed. The stroller collapses down so far, it almost is the size of a regular umbrella stroller. We'll see what happens.
