The reason it says end of January as they are referring to your current benefit year status as an instant Gold member. You will indeed receive a full 12-month renewal for 2012/13 in January when the new merged elite cards are issued, so rest assured you will have STARGold benefits in the coming year from CO and the new MileagePlus program.
