Also, CX should really encourage a Chinese-based airline to join OW. It's ridiculous that OW is basically useless in intra-China travels that many business travelers do quite frequently nowadays. Unless I go through HKG, I am flying as nobody even between major cities in China, let-alone secondary cities. OW is losing tons of potential customers by not having a China-based airline.
So true and I share your understandings! But does CX/OW really has a practical option? CA is a *A, MU and CZ are sky team - HX runs a subsidiary which is CX's direct competitor in HK and CX hates it with a passion.

Starting a LCC business isn't that bad to be honest. China flights are mainly within 1-3 hours anyway. It is also arguable to say how much more service CA/MU/CZ could offer in their domestic flights comparing to a typical LCC. Personally I didn't feel there are any services at all (in Y of course).

Jetstar flights give QFF full Y credit status and miles for certain fares - my QFF Gold friends (equivalent MPC Gold) spent around AUD$2500 every year on Jetstar to keep their OW Sapphire status (while I have to spend at least AUD$7000 every year on CX Y to keep my MPC Gold). I certainly wouldn't mind CX adopt the similar strategy to lower my cost to renew my MPC Gold.

I know most of you guys who travel for work would hate it as maybe you really can't stand to sit in Y and a J service is a must for your travelling... but I only fly for pleasure so it's a different expectation.
