Well, the Sheraton Read House might well have been a luxury hotel -- back in the 1970s when it was last renovated.
By throwing money at the problem, I got upgraded to an "executive suite" which is strangely shaped but decently sized. And that's about all that can be said for it.
I will survive two nights here but I cannot possibly imagine why anyone would stay in this hotel, ever. Paint is peeling, the elevator floors were last cleaned back when FDR was president, the room is gloomy, furniture belongs in a yard sale, bathrooms are tiny, no in room safes (duh!), no newspaper,.... Need I go on? The staff is accommodating but they don't have much to work with.
If this is the best they can do here, this city is best avoided.
